Although the car maker refrains from giving any more information, Autocar expects this new model to be a hard-top version of the current MX-5, called the MX-5 Roadster Coupé.
The hard-top version of the Mk3 MX-5 accounted for 80% of sales in the UK, presumably due to Brits preferring the additional insulation and increased flexibility of an electronic folding metal roof over a manually-operated fabric one.

The last Miata PRHT made up 52 percent of the roadster’s sales mix in the US, so creating another one is an easy decision for the company. According to Autocar, expect the new roof mechanism to be lighter and more compact than the previous design. It would still add some weight compared to the cloth top, but customers would get the added insulation and security from the hardtop.
一方、アメリカでは、52％がRHT仕様だったということですから、もしかしたら巨大市場の半分のユーザーは、買い控えているかも知れません…（言い過ぎだな）。
